Filter / Ventilators
The Concept
Internal components in electrical and electronic enclosures are the culprits that generate heat. If this heat is not removed or cooled down, malfunctions will most likely occur. Downtime, labor and new components/parts can be very costly. The object, therefore, is to maintain reliability of the controls.
Electra-Kool™ Filter
Filter/Ventilator Systems force out the ventilated heat - and cool continually with finely filtered ambient filtered air. Hot air exits via louvered vents (furnished with the system), which also act as airflow indicators. If your controls can operate at ambient temperature, Electra-Kool™ systems can be of great value! They are less expensive to purchase and operate than air-conditioners or compressed air chillers!
Construction
Blowers:The two small Filter/Ventilators, Models 60 & 150 are constructed of powder-coated steel. All others are rugged cast aluminum. All blowers have fingerguards on the inlet and outlet for safety purposes!
Blower Mounting:Filter/Ventilators blowers are simply bolted to the side/top of the enclosure. All models have four mounting holes, except for Model 60, which has three. They can be mounted in any position.
Motors:Models 60 and 150 are available only in single phase power. All others are available in 1 or 3 phase power.
Filter Mounting:All filter/ventilators utilize one wingnut to fasten the filter. This makes it quick and easy when changing! All filters have a gasketed seal on the blower face.
Filters:The filter is pleated synthetic fiber matrix media on all filter/ventilators, rated at 99.97% at 1 micron, nominal. HEPA filters, rated 99.97% at 0.3 microns absolute are available. Metal mesh filters are also used when fine filtration is not necessary (ventilating DC motors). The standard main filters may be cleaned by washing gently in hot soapy water, rinsing and air drying. They should not be blown off with compressed air.
Prefilters:A non-woven polyester prefilter is furnished with all filter/ventilator systems. The purpose is to help extend the life of the main filter. They are secured with Velcro™ fasteners. Prefilters may be cleaned in hot water or by vacuuming.
Filter Life: Life depends on the environment in which they are used and is very difficult to judge. Because of the huge surface area in each main filter, we estimate that 6-12 months or more can be expected in most applications. It is also possible to "remote mount" filters in a cleaner area and duct the air to the blower.
