Electra-Kool Filter/Ventilators were created in 1980 during a filter sales call. While walking through a factory in the summer, an electrical panel was observed with the doors wide open and a large fan blowing plant air into it. There was yellow tape around the area so workers would not get near the enclosure. We asked what the problem was and were told, "When it gets hot in the summer, the enclosure builds up internal heat." To keep it cool and the components operating, the doors were opened and a cooling fan was used. This also blew in airborne dirt, which, in time, caused problems with contact points. It was a real headache for the plant manager!
On the way home we thought about the situation and wondered if a pressure blower, fitted with a filter would solve the problem. We sized a 6" blower and a filter for the job and contacted the plant manager. He thought our idea sounded good and certainly worth trying.
After about 2 weeks of operation, he advised that it was doing a wonderful job and ordered ten more units! We started to ask other plant managers and maintenance people if they had problems with overheating and/or dust with their enclosures. The response was so positive that we decided to proceed and manufacture a complete line for all sizes of enclosures.
Metal mesh filtered blowers were added for ventilating larger DC motors. Filterkits™ for filterless blowers completed the product line. HEPA filters for very fine filtration, are available now for most models.
Several equipment manufacturers use our filtered blowers on optical laser machines and as exhaust blowers on parts washing machines.
